Painting 101 {for furniture, walls and more}

I’ve used a bunch of different paint brands in the past throughout my home, but have recently narrowed it down to my two favorite: Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. The coverage is fantastic with both of these brands and I did not have to prime beforehand (including painting over bright yellow and bright red with a pale green).

IKEA Raskog Hack, a DIY Rolling Vanity

A few weeks ago I shared with you one of the challenges that my family faces in the morning…. last-minute chaos. Most of this chaos is caused by us being slightly under prepared and a little bit disorganized.   Right now we are dealing with two big issues when it comes to making the most of the  #First59 minutes of the day. 1-“I can’t find my clothes” and 2- “There is no room for me in the bathroom”.  With the help of IKEA and lots of inspiration found online I decided to tackle the second of these two problems, the bathroom.  The clothing situation still needs to be addressed but that’s a bigger project and I realized that I had a quick and simple solution to the bathroom problem.

15 Things to Clean More Often

C’mon, admit it. Cleaning is no fun. It’s a chore that never seems to end. But while you’re cleaning the obvious things in your house like the toilets and kitchen floor, here are some things that you might forget to do…

WHO KNEW!! you print out words on basic white paper, but in mirror image form… lay them on the wood… with a damp paint brush wet the paper on top of the words… use the cap of a sharpie to rub on top of the letters to help them transfer … then remove the paper and stand in shock and awe!

First… I found a scrap of plywood from the garage and gave the side I was going to paint a rough sanding (just to smooth it out a bit).  You can see from the pic that it wasn’t very pretty, but all those flaws will make it look even better in the long run (ok I think we can make a deep life moment out of that statement).

Custom Workbench building plans... with built-in lumber storage! (The Sawdust Maker)

Well Hello! Are you all as excited as I am to finish this Wood Storage Workbench?  Finally, we will be able to organize our lumber!
Ironically as I write this there are tons of little scrap pieces of lumber tucked away under a workbench in the garage.  Arrg! It’s a never ending battle.  Haha.
